SWFL art entrepreneurs Mariapia Malerba and Leila Mesdaghi are the first artists to take part in a two-week artist residency program at Sun Peaks Center for Art and Sustainability in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Both artists will return home at the end of the month to present the work they created in their own exhibit opening. The show, titled Symbiotic: Malerba/Mesdaghi, will represent their reflection and meditation on their creative processes while in a setting that preserves the integrity of earth’s natural resources.
Malerba was recently featured as a signature designer during the opening night of SBDAC’s Art Walks the Runway Fashion Show this year. Leila is SBDAC’s 2016 “Best in Show” winner from the June Juried Exhibition. She presented a performance piece titled Deeper Than Sorrow II.
