Your outdoor space should be as appealing and inviting as your indoor space, especially in Florida. While the rest of the country is hibernating we are fortunate enough to spend the entire year outdoors. Trees and bushes are a great way to add dimension and privacy to your yard however there are some things you should think about before choosing your landscaping. Maintenance, disease, and irrigation are just a few of the things you should consider. Plants that are native to Florida are easier to maintain and typically don't require as much irrigation or maintenance. They also have the added benefit of offering a sustainable habitat for our wildlife. Exotics, while beautiful, often become invasive and destroy some of our natural habitats and generally don't survive some of our more severe weather. Before you design your landscape plan check with local nursery's before planting you will be glad you did. This beautiful Magnolia tree is a great example of a native plant that thrives in Florida and requires very little maintenance. Happy planting! |
